A research team at College of Engineering of Al Iraqia University was able to build a developed system for detecting those infected with COVID-19, using X-Ray Image and a CT-Scan.
The innovative system was characterized by the use of artificial intelligence techniques and deep learning algorithms, and through the results of the research team consisting of Dr. Bilal Rashid Abdul Majeed and the two students Aya Badir and Jihan Salman, to turns out that the system is able to distinguish those infected with the emerging virus with an accuracy of up to 99{b951b79eb4917604cefc8861836cdd32bb02f5edf81dba1dda33ec08521dfd23}.
Department of Network Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Al-Iraqia University held a Virtual workshop and discussion seminar on the mechanism of writing graduation projects with the participation of the fourth stage students in the college. The workshop included an expanded virtual meeting with the fourth stage students for both morning and evening studies to introduce the mechanism of writing the graduation project and the necessary requirements to prepare for the final discussion and identify problems and solve them in the service of the learning process.
The workshop aims to ensure that the student submitting the project is responsible for conforming to the instructions, the department is not allowed to submit The Project only after ensuring that the it meets all the mentioned requirements.
Al- Iraqia University participated in the global conference on e-learning entitled ( Iraq Summit for Online Education) under the auspices of Huawei Technology and Communications, through the Zoom and Live Broadcasting platform on Facebook, participated by group of universities from various countries of the world, including Chinese universities and seven Iraqi universities.
The conference included a set of important working papers presented by Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its Deputy Minister, Professor Dr. Hamid Khalaf, which dealt with a set of administrative and technical aspects of e-learning in addition to participation from UNESCO and the regional director of Huawei.
Assistant Rector of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Khamis Zaidan, chaired Al- Iraqia University team and a number of Academic Members at the Faculty of Engineering at the conference, presenting Al- Iraqia University working paper and answering questions and interventions that permeated the conference.
It is noteworthy that Al- Iraqia University previously won three international awards at Huawei Information Technology Competition in the Middle East in 2018, and in the world in 2019.
College of Engineering at Al- Iraqia University organized a virtual seminar (Sumner) in parallel processing with the participation of graduate students in the college.
